As part of a trying to follow a healthy lifestyle, I try to avoid vinegar in my foods. This means avoiding store bought bbq sauce. However, over the years I've tried some homemade bbq sauces and believe I've finally come across a pretty tasty one. Not only is it tasty but it's also very healthy: no vinegar, refined sugar free and ketchup free. I thought I would share it with you all today:

Healthy BBQ SAUCE

Servings: 2 cups
Ingredients
1 cup water
6 oz/156ml can tomato paste
1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
3 tbsp unsulphured molasses/blackstrap molasses
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp liquid smoke
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
Add all ingredients a bowl and whisk until all is well incorporated.
