How to make Almond Milk

So it turns out that there are actually many harmful processed chemicals in commercial almond milks and being pregnant, I want to avoid those possible harmful effects to the baby! So recently, I started making my own plant-based milks and I've been loving doing so. Today, I'm gonna share with you how I make almond milk. Hope you enjoy :)

Ok not the best picture but maybe eventually I'll make it nicer !

Almond milk recipe

Prep time: 12 hours

Total time: 12 hours and 5 minutes

Servings: About 1 liter (4 cups)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds

  • Lots of water

  • Sprinkle of salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse your almonds and submerge them in room temperature water and let them soak for 12 hours.

  2. Discard the water and add the almonds and salt to your blender.

  3. Add 5 cups of filtered water to your jug and blender on high speed for 1-2 minutes.

  4. Once done blending, prepare whatever you are going to put your almond milk in and place it in your sink without the lid. Using either a cheesecloth or a strainer, slowly strain the almond milk into your container.

  5. You will notice a lot of pulp leftover, you can keep it and use it in other recipes (so I hear but I've never attempted it). To be sure you can always double strain your milk but other than that you're done! You've made homemade almond milk, congrats!

  6. Enjoy :)

  7. This milk stays good for about 5 days in the fridge.
