Ever eaten sprouted oats and buckwheat? They are raw and delicious! For people like me who enjoy eating crunchy cereal more than porridge, these breakfast cereals are great. Their taste takes some time to adjust to but once you get used to them, you'll see how quickly you can use them to make delicious cereal bowls!
Sprouted breakfast cereal
Prep time: -
Total time: 1 day and a half
Servings: Not sure
Ingredients
1 cup oats or buckwheat
Lots of water
Sprouting jar or anything to let them sprout it
Instructions
Rinse your oats/buckwheat thoroughly. (I would recommend doing this is the evening of day 1 to have them ready for the morning of day 3)
Submerge them into room temperature water for 1 hour to soak.
Once the soaking is done, rinse out the water very well (especially the buckwheat, they tend to have a bit of slime after soaking) and let the cereal sit overnight with a top that has holes (like a sprouting lid or put paper towel with little holes inside).
Once that is done, repeat the rinsing process twice a day the next day (once in the morning and once in the evening) and your cereal should be ready to by the 3rd day!
Enjoy these with any toppings you'd like. I like to mix my buckwheat with dates, strawberries, homemade almond milk and some seeds. For my oats, I add peanut butter, carob chips, seeds and homemade almond milk. You can really get creative!
